My investigation has been focused on preclinical research of the antitumoral immune response with the final aim of improving the design of immunotherapies. During the first period (2016-2017) I implemented the follow-up preclinical methodology to monitor in vitro T-cell responses through different analysis methods. In 2017 I started my Ph.D. entitled "Characterization of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes from the TCR and antigenic presentation perspective in breast cancer", with the Scholarship "Personal Investigador en Formació" granted by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) (Bellaterra, Spain). My thesis consisted of two main areas: (i) the TCR analysis of CD4+ and CD8+ TILs, and (ii) the study of the tumoral HLA-II-associated repertoire. I successfully received my Ph.D. with the highest distinction (Excellent Cum Laude) in 2022.

From our work, we could elucidate some conclusions, as differences found in the TCR composition TILs subsets that may be useful to improve TCR-based therapies. I have co-coordinated the research group (led by Dr. Mercè Martí), designed and planned the experimental procedures and their implementation, and I have been actively participating in the coordination between our research group and medical doctors from hospitals from whom we received biopsies (Vall d'Hebron Hospital, Quirón Hospital, Teknon Hospital, and Dexeus Hospital).

I have presented my work at several national and international congresses, and I have been awarded by the Catalan Society of Immunology (SCI) on two different occasions: best oral communication for the work "Epstein-Barr Virus+ B cells in the Breast Cancer Immune Response: A Case Report" (XIII Congress SCI, November 4-15, 2019, Barcelona, Spain), and best oral communication for the talk "Functional Study of Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes in a Breast Cancer Patient: An Approach to Personalized Medicine" (XI Congress SCI,November 16-17, 2017, Barcelona, Spain).

I am the first author of two scientific peer-reviewed articles and of a bibliographic review, all of them published in Q1 journals. I have also participated in other dissemination activities such as at BioResearch Conferences of the Faculty of Biosciences (UAB) and in dissemination programs in collaboration with the industry and/or private sector (“II NGS Digital Conference", organized by Condalab: November 2022, Online event.) Our group received funding from the "Contigo Contra el Cáncer de la Mujer" Foundation, with whom we have actively participated to improve nonexpert audience knowledge transfer.

I have co-directed four Masters’ theses of Master’s Degree in Advanced Immunology (UB-UAB) students, contributing to the training of young researchers. During the last seven years, I have been teaching in the practical laboratory subject "Advanced Techniques in Immunology" in the same master’s degree. I have also taught practical classes in the international LIVE master's program (2022-2023).

I have participated in informative talks about Immunology and Cancer for young students (4 ESO and 1 Health Science Bachelor, Montseny Study Center, March 2022, Barcelona, Spain) and in women in science disseminating program "100tifiques" (Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation, CFRI, February 2023). I am very interested in scientific dissemination, and I co-founded a microbiology science communication blog called “Micronautes” (https://unautes.com) and a podcast of general science for which we obtained funding through the Joan Oró call for grants for the promotion of scientific culture in Catalunya, CFRI ("Xarrup de Ciència" at http://www.xarrupdeciencia.com).

I have been actively training and have attended several courses, as the international course “2nd European FOCIS Advanced Course on Basic and Clinical Immunology” (2017, Prague, Czech Republic) with a travel grant provided by the FOCIS Center of Excellence UAB. I successfully finished the Teacher Training Program in Higher Education, granted by Vice-Rector for Studies and Teaching Innovation, from the UAB 2018 - 2021. During my Ph.D. I was awarded a grant to perform a 3-months stay ("Convocatòria d'ajuts per a estades de curta durada a l'estranger per a l'any 2020 pels beneficiaris/es de les convocatòries PIF UAB", ID. ESTPIF2020-02) in the Frits Koning's group (Leiden University Medical Centre, The Netherlands). Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, I was unable to accomplish my stay.

Thanks to my knowledge acquired during the thesis, I was able to join Dr. Manel Juan's group at the Fundació Recerca Clínic Barcelona - IDIBAPS as a postdoctoral researcher. I am coordinating the research for the development of new TCR-based  therapies. Recently, our group has secured funding to carry out two projects of this nature: "STIT, Genetically Modified Tumor-Infiltrating T Lymphocytes to continuously secrete fusion proteins with bispecific TCRs" and "Optimized Platform for the Customized Production of Transgenic TCRs in T Lymphocytes (TCR-READY)."
